Support For Walter and His Family After Car Crash
Donation protected
Late on July 26, Walter was driving home when he was struck head-on by a driver under the influence who drifted over the center-line. The severity of the crash delayed first responders an entire 39 minutes before Walter was removed from the vehicle and airlifted to the nearest hospital’s ICU. His injuries are extensive: requiring several surgeries and a long road of physical therapy. Though he may prefer that the doctors left some car parts in his body so he can say he is partly made by Ford, we are all glad he survived. The purpose of this fundraiser is to help him and his family out the best we can during recovery. The CHP report can be found here.
About Walter

Walter is a dedicated communitarian. He is the Vice President of the Cal Poly Rose Float and the former float driver during the 2020 Rose Parade. As an Eagle Scout, he is known for his countless displays of generosity from baking hundreds of cookies for events, to meticulously designing 3D printed memorabilia for his closest friends — all without expectation of reward.

While the accident may have rendered Walter physically impaired, his sense of humor was thankfully left unscathed. We were happy to hear moments after getting his ventilator tube removed, the doctor asked what car he was driving, to which Walter responded, “a piece of shit”. This and other mannerisms were entirely indicative of the Walter we know and love.
How you can help...
The Trygstad family is not known for asking for help, but we would like to show Walter and his family that they are not alone in this struggle! Though these times are trying for everyone, we would be gracious for any contributions towards his medical expenses and ultimately Walter’s speedy recovery. Help us get our best friend back in action!
Other ways to help (giving meals, etc.) can be found through the Give In Kind site page for Walter and his Family.
