AN UPDATE ON 2.11
We are overwhelmed with gratitude.
Over the past week, so many of you have shown up for Walter and his family with extraordinary generosity — through donations, prayers, messages, meals, hugs, and love. Every contribution, every share, every kind word has meant more than we can possibly express. In the midst of heartbreak, your support has been a powerful reminder of the community Walter built simply by being himself.
Thank you for carrying his family through this impossible time.
Walter’s full obituary will be posted shortly. We will share it here as soon as it is available.
For those who would like to attend, funeral services will take place on Monday, February 16th at 10:00 AM, followed by a Mass at 12:00 PM at:
Winowicz Funeral Home
308 Adeline Street

AN UPDATE ON 2.6:
An Update on Walter
It’s hard to find the right words, but I want to share an update with love and honesty.
Walter is currently in hospice and nearing the next chapter of wherever we go from here. After a courageous fight that began just over a year ago, the time has come for him to rest. He has faced this journey with strength, grace, and a quiet bravery that has touched everyone who knows him.
Walter is only 34 years old. Like so many young people, he does not have life insurance, and his family is now facing the unexpected and overwhelming costs that come with laying a loved one to rest. Funeral and burial expenses arrive quickly, adding a financial weight to an already heartbreaking time.
At the request of Walter’s family, I’m reaching out to this community once more. If you’re able to give again, your support will help ease that burden and allow them to focus on what matters most right now—being together, honoring Walter’s life, and holding space for grief and love. If giving isn’t possible, sharing this page, saying a prayer or sending good thoughts, and love to Walter and his family are all deeply appreciated.
Thank you for the kindness, generosity, and care you have already shown. It has meant more than words can express, and it continues to surround Walter and his family in ways that truly matter.
As we prepare to say goodbye to an extraordinary human, please also take care of yourselves and one another. Grief shows up differently for all of us, and tending to our own hearts is part of honoring Walter and the love he has always shared so freely.
With gratitude and love,
Meg Cubano
ORIGINAL POST:
Walter is a beloved son, brother, uncle, friend, dance partner, and true carer of community. As a first-generation immigrant, Walter has worked incredibly hard to build a life grounded in service, compassion, and impact—always showing up for others, even when it wasn’t easy.
For years, Walter has dedicated his career to social services, most recently serving as Director of People and Culture at Isles, where he helped support families and strengthen communities in Trenton, New Jersey. His work has always been about dignity, equity, and making sure people feel seen and supported.
In January 2025, Walter was diagnosed with advanced bone cancer. In November, he received the devastating news that the cancer had spread to his brain, significantly intensifying his treatment and recovery journey. Right now, his focus needs to be on healing—but the financial reality is heavy. Medical costs, mortgage payments, and everyday bills continue to mount.
Walter’s mother has been by his side as his primary caregiver and has been unable to work while caring for her son, placing additional strain on their household during an already overwhelming time.
We are raising funds to help Walter and his family cover essential expenses so they can focus on what matters most: treatment, rest, and recovery. Any contribution—no matter the size—will make a meaningful difference. If you’re unable to give, sharing this page is also a powerful way to support Walter.
Thank you for showing up for someone who has spent his life showing up for others.
