A local guy doing local good needs your help
A Baltimore kid. Graduate of Baltimore City College High School. Walter Reeves knows where he comes from and is working to improve himself and they city he loves.
Walt is a homegrown single dad who wants the best for his 6 kids and all of the young people in Baltimore. He was able to fuel the spark of activism as a participant in Year Up Baltimore, a nationally based work force development program, where he honed skills, worked hard, and developed his "learner mindset". As a member of the second graduating class of Year Up Baltimore, Walt prepared himself for being a valued member of the communities he is part of. He immediately made local connections and used his Year Up network to organize holiday toy drives and book drives for a local elementary school. This desire to build community also push Walt to be a part of the Year Up National Alumni organization where he is an active leader working at both the local and national level to help close the opportunity divide in Baltimore.
After graduating Year Up, Walt was hired on the staff and worked for 7 years in the Admissions department and worked hard to share his passion for learning and bring young people from his beloved city into the program. His personal and professional growth is an ongoing process that includes working on a Associate's degree in Computer Information Systems and recently becoming a licensed real estate agent. His interest in local good and leadership were solidified when he was excepted into and completed the Greater Baltimore Committee’s "Next Up" program which features leadership training, professional and personal development and networking opportunities.
This local guy is an asset to all of the different communities he serves. And he needs help to get back to his work.
Walt suffer a brutal attacked while sleeping in his home and is suffering with a concussion, brain bleed, skull fracture, fractured nose, and expressive aphasia. As a single father of Taraji, Tyler, TaShawn, Titan, Shamari, and Ty’Heir, this horrible incident is affecting his family as well has his clients and colleagues.
