On January 14th, 2022, the DiMauro family was enjoying a typical day together. It was their four-year-old, Millie, who first pointed out that her dad "looked yellow." While Vincent initially laughed it off with his usual easygoing nature, Lisa felt it was worth a quick check-up.

That day led to a jaundice diagnosis and an admission to UCLA Hospital. After further testing, they received news they never expected: Vincent had a mass in his bile duct. Following further imaging and a biopsy, it was diagnosed as cholangiocarcinoma, a rare and aggressive form of cancer.

A Four-Year Battle:

For the past four years, Vincent has fought this battle with incredible grace and his signature sense of humor. He has endured everything thrown at him -chemotherapy, immunotherapy, experimental treatments, multiple stent surgeries, and emergency room visits. Thanks to his attitude, his family's love, the care of his doctors at UCLA, and many other factors, the tumor has remained at bay and thankfully has not spread throughout his body.

Recently, the journey has become more difficult. Complications from the recent stent surgery caused pancreatitis, leaving Vincent in immense physical distress. Despite the toll the illness has taken on his body, he remains the same wonderful person we all know: the man who enjoys life and lives for his family.

The Impact on the DiMauro Family:

Vincent and Lisa are the proud parents of three amazing, energetic children: Conrad, Penny, and Millie. Both parents work, but Vincent’s illness has been a major disruption. The costs of specialized healthcare, life-saving medications, and hospital stays are overwhelming. The cost for one cholangiocarcinoma immunotherapy is $25,000 after health insurance. Beyond the medical bills, the daily logistics of raising three young children (childcare, meals, and keeping their lives as "normal" as possible) has become a difficult financial burden.
