Less than two years ago, my brother and his family arrived in the United States through the U4U (Uniting for Ukraine) program, seeking safety, stability, and a chance to rebuild their lives. His wife and three young children had fled the war in Ukraine.

My brother worked hard to support his family and create a stable future for his children. They were beginning to adjust to a new country, a new language, and a new life. The kids started school.

Then, everything changed.

For over two months now, my brother has been held in ICE detention. His family is suddenly without their main provider and without answers about what comes next.

His wife is now alone with three children, trying to stay strong.

Financially, the situation is becoming critical. Rent, food, utilities, school needs, legal expenses — everything continues, but the income does not. On top of that, legal fees to fight for my brother’s release are adding immense pressure.
