Last month, my beautiful sister Vikki received news that no young mother wants to receive when she was diagnosed with lymphoma. We still do not know the exact type of lymphoma or staging since a lot of the testing was delayed due to initially not having insurance. Vikki is now being treated at Johns Hopkins and we are very confident that she is where she needs to be to get the best care possible. She will be undergoing additional procedures this week after which the doctors will hopefully have more answers regarding her diagnosis and treatment plan.
Anyone who knows Vikki knows that her boys, CJ (11) and Ethan (9) are her world. Normally at this time of year she would be getting ready for Thanksgiving and starting to shop for the boys’ Christmas presents. Instead she is all alone in a hospital trying to process this news and undoubtedly worrying about her boys and how she’s going to make their Christmas as normal and special as its always been. In addition to the diagnosis, Vikki is also faced with all of the upcoming medical bills and expenses that come with diagnosing and treating this terrible disease. Unfortunately Vikki is not covered by any short or long term disability insurance and once her PTO has been exhausted she will no longer receive her salary.
Vikki is the most selfless person who is always taking care of everyone. This Go Fund Me is being set up in order to lessen the financial burden on Vikki and Champ during these difficult times which will hopefully allow them to strictly focus on Vikki’s treatment and road to recovery. All money received will go directly to support Vikki and her family will be used to pay for medical bills, monthly expenses, and anything else she or her family may need throughout this journey.
We understand the difficult times we are all in with the pandemic and everything else going on in the world. While no one ever likes asking for help, it is even more difficult to do so at times like this.
