I'm a veteran and single father with full custody of my two youngest children. Recently, I received the difficult news that I need an aortic bypass, which means I'll be out of work for almost four months. During this time, my only income will be my VA disability check, and I'm worried about how I'll provide for my family while I recover.

On September 17, 2024, I had two stents put in my left leg artery. Unfortunately, they only lasted about a year, and after a few more months, I learned I would need major surgery and a lengthy recovery. I work as a server in the restaurant industry, and missing this much work means I won't be able to cover our rent, groceries, utilities, and the everyday needs of my two teenagers.
