Support for Vasculitis Treatment at Emory

Donation protected
As some know, I was diagnosed with HSP vasculitis, now known as IGA vasculitis, at the age of 12. In the 17 years since, I have received very little treatment due to the rarity of vasculitis and lack of research. At the age of 16, the vasculitis advanced to my GI tract and my kidneys, leading me to my second diagnosis of IGA nephropathy (Kidney Disease). This diagnosis has caused me years of pain, doctor’s appointments, hospitalizations, immunosuppressants, and the last year I have been on low dose chemotherapy injections. In the most recent weeks, I have been hospitalized for vasculitis, sepsis, and hypertensive emergencies.

I will be seeing Dr. Tiliakos at Emory, who is over clinical trials for vasculitis and treatment. My treatment plan is to go in for a port placement and start on infusions. I will also have a care team that will be established with rheumatology, nephrology, GI, cardiology, possibly vascular, and immunology. The effects of vasculitis are becoming more apparent and severe the older I get. I have three young children, and in a few short weeks, I will graduate nursing school. I ultimately want to reach remission and put vasculitis behind me. I want my kids to see their mama healthy for once, and I want to take off into my new career as a nurse without the added complications of vasculitis.

The funds raised will help cover essential needs such as travel to and from Emory, hotel rooms during my treatment, meals, and everyday bills and expenses that continue to add up. I will be out of work a lot for these appointments and hospital stays, so your support will help me focus on my recovery and care for my children without the constant worry of how to manage these costs. Every bit of help makes a meaningful difference in my ability to get the care I need.

I appreciate anything—a donation, a share, a prayer, or even just taking the time to learn about vasculitis. Thank you for considering supporting me during this time. Your kindness and generosity mean more than words can express, and I am truly grateful for any support you can offer.
