Hi! My name is Allison Erickson. I'm a friend of the Packer family.
Vanesa Packer, Jaron Packer's wife, was mountain biking with a friend up by the “V” in Centerville Wednesday, May 8, 2024 when she slipped out on some mud and she and her bike tumbled down a 150 foot ravine. Thankfully her friend, Lindsay, was biking with her. If this had not been the case, we might not have Vanesa here with us today. Lindsay was instrumental in saving her life.
They called in a helicopter to get her off the mountain using a lift rope. However, by the time the helicopter had landed they were able to get her up the ravine on a stretcher, thanks to the strong and able paramedics, John and Mike.
Jaron was able to get up on the mountain just in time to get in the ambulance with her, where they took her to the hospital and immediately did surgery on her trachea.
Her injuries include: a fractured hyoid bone in her neck around her trachea, fractured T6 vertebrae, damaged larynx, lacerated liver with some internal bleeding, crushed wrist, two minor lacerations on her face, and a large one on her knee to the bone, and of course many bumps and bruises.
The fracture in her neck caused such bad swelling that she couldn’t breathe, so they had to place a breathing tube.
The liver is being monitored, and internal bleeding is under control.
They were able to close up her large wound on her knee with multiple layers of stitches.
We don’t know when she will be able to go home from the hospital. They are hoping for next week sometime.
We believe in the power of prayer and miracles. We believe that faith can move mountains, and now, after a terrible accident Jaron Packer's family has a mountain that needs moving. Please join your prayers with ours, and together, we will begin seeing God work miracles. Thank you!
