The day after Christmas, my father-in-law, his son, and two of his grandsons went camping and planned to go deer hunting together. While at the deer lease, Vance Witherspoon—my brother-in-law’s oldest son, just 12 years old—was riding an ATV when he was in an accident that he did not survive. This loss has left our entire family heartbroken and in shock. No one ever expects to have to plan a funeral for a child, and the pain is unimaginable.

I am starting this fundraiser to help my brother-in-law’s family with funeral expenses for Vance. As a parent of a 12-year-old myself, I can’t even begin to imagine what they are going through. The last thing any family should have to worry about in a moment like this is how to cover the costs of saying goodbye. Your support will help give them one less thing to worry about as they grieve and try to find their way through this tragedy.
