My name is Alicia Clay, and I’m helping organize this fundraiser on behalf of my husband’s coworker and friend, Val “Guero” Valdez, with his permission.
On the morning of April 21, 2026, Arnulfo “Pa” Valdez, age 82, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his children and family.
Pa was known for his humor, his strength, and the way he showed love so freely to those around him. He was the kind of man who would do anything for anyone—loyal, caring, and deeply devoted to his family.
After being diagnosed with stage 4 liver cancer, doctors initially believed he only had a matter of weeks. Instead, Pa continued to fight for two years, spending that time at home in hospice care, surrounded by the people who meant the most to him.
During this time, Val did everything he could to support his family financially while also being there for his father. He has taken significant unpaid time away from work, including a current 30-day leave of absence, in order to help care for his Pa and be present with his family during these final moments. Asking for help does not come easily to him, and he knows his dad would have never wanted to be a burden. But as the family now faces funeral expenses, we wanted to step in and help lighten that weight in any way we can.
All funds raised will go directly toward funeral costs for Pa. Any support—whether through a donation or simply sharing this page—means more than words can express during this time.
Thank you for helping honor the life of Arnulfo “Pa” Valdez and for supporting the family he loved so much.
