GREETINGS EVERYONE:   This just in from Val Vadeboncoeur:

"On Wednesday afternoon, May 2nd, while painting the side of a house, my ladder slipped out from under me and sent me crashing onto my back and right on the fallen ladder.  The most physically painful moment of my life.

The diagnosis is that I suffered a compression fracture of the T-12 vertebra as well as massive back muscle trauma over the whole of my back along with the expected bruises, cuts, scrapes, and hematomas on my arms and hands.

The prognosis is good, but long.  I have to pretty much stay lying on my side for the next two or three weeks and slowly increase the time I’m sitting or standing up (right now, I can’t do either for very long.) The hope is that I should be back to normal in two to three months, give or take.

The problem isn’t so much the pain (which is considerable even with the anti-inflammatories and muscle relaxants that I’ve been instructed to take… God, what did people do about pain before drugs?) or medical bills (I’ll need some chiropractic and massage help over the coming weeks and months), but the fact that I won’t be able to work for the next 2-3 months. Most of the work I do requires being on my feet for long stretches of time. And, I won’t even be able to sit up for any length of time for a while.

I really don’t have any savings and have been living practically week-t o week in recent months. I have bills and responsibilities, as we all do, and a car that requires some pricey work. And, now, I won’t be able to pay my bills or meet my responsibilities which has real-life consequences, of course.  Distressing. I’m in financial trouble, in  other words, and I don’t know what to do.

HELP!

I’ve figured out that in order to survive this situation over the coming three months, or so, I’ll need about $10,000 dollars.

If you’re able to help in any way, I’d be eternally grateful, and I’ll try to make it up to you in either the remainder of this life or one of the next ones.

Thanks for reading this."
