Support for Unexpected Liver Failure
Donation protected
Hello family and friends. George here from Deb’s hospital room at the University of Washington.
The back story is that Deb has some sort of acute on-set liver failure that we (the big collective medical “we”) haven’t been able to figure out. Due to the seriousness of the situation, she was medevaced to the University of Washington Medical Center in Seattle for care. Milo and I are here as well. Kai and Sylas are still with Janet in Homer.
Deb seems to be in pretty good shape, but is actually really sick. She has a lovely yellow hue, is a bit tired, is still as witty and sharp as ever, but her liver numbers are really high. The medical staff have never seen anyone like her before: conscious with these numbers.
The liver transplant team is taking this very seriously and preparing Deb for a transplant. That’s not what they’re hoping for, but is what is. If that happens, we’ll need to be here for 3-6 months.
In a best-case scenario, she’ll be closely monitored in the hospital for the next two weeks, her numbers will go down, and then we go from there.
