Support for Truck Repairs and Rent Recovery

About a year ago, in April 2024, I got a fairly severe concussion that greatly limited my capacity to work a full schedule doing hair behind the chair. It's something I'm still recovering from with some uncertainty that things will ever fully go back to 'normal'. Some weeks are better than others. Due to some of the fallout from needing to reduce my schedule, I made the very difficult decision to move out of the apartment I'd been living in for almost 5 years and out of my hair studio in the same month. I knew this would be a massive transition but needed to make a radical shift in service of dramatically reducing my monthly expenses. I had hoped that this decision would be enough that I'd be able to continue to support myself, but with the addition of some other unforeseen circumstances, I haven't been able to find stability financially.

Yesterday felt like the straw that broke the camel's back when the driver's side front wheel of my truck snapped off while taking a turn here in Seattle. Luckily, no one was hurt and my AAA hadn't expired yet (May 31!!), but as I was walking home from the mechanic, I found myself hitting my breaking point.

I've been fortunate enough to have had significant support in the last 6 months from a very short list of close friends, but the burden has become too great for these relationships to continue to shoulder. I've finally been able to find work in the last month but now have 4 jobs, all of which require the use of my truck in a substantial way, and I've been crossing my fingers that it would be able to hold out a while longer until I could become a bit more stable, but alas, here we are...

This amount will cover most of my expenses associated with the last 6 months of back-owed rent plus utilities and the cost of my now more serious than anticipated truck repairs.

I know so many of us have been or are currently experiencing scarcity. I know this is a lot to ask for, and I don't take this kind of thing lightly. I am humbled in asking and hope that if you are unable to donate, that you please pass this along.
