We are raising funds for Troy Vacherlon
Troy has been a diabetic for the past 20 years and has experienced a variety of complications from this condition. He had a heart attack in 2017 and had a stent placed in a blocked artery, and at the same time, he was diagnosed with stage 4 kidney failure as a result of his diabetes.
Troy started dialysis two and a half years ago and we were hoping and praying for a kidney donor. Fast forward to 2023. Troy began experiencing multiple episodes of drops in blood pressure combined with issues with his toes and feet beginning to turn blue.
On May 3rd, Troy was rushed into emergency surgery because he had a blockage in his left leg. He was diagnosed with PVD (Peripheral Vascular Disease) and fortunately, he was able to have two stents in his left leg. His right leg needed to be fixed as well.
During all this, he learned that he had four more blockages in his heart. With his heart only working at 20% he was taken off the kidney donor list because his heart would not be able to take that surgery. His doctors recommended open heart surgery but due to his poor health with the combined kidney, leg and heart blockages, he would not survive the surgery. Thankfully he was able to have four stents put in his heart to improve his blood flow and improve his heart health overall.
Unfortunately, it was too late for his feet and legs. The left leg stents were not the fix hoped for, and his feet had turned black and gangrene set in. His right leg was amputated below the knee on May 15th. We had hoped the left leg, which was stented, would be able to be saved, but it seems that it will have to be amputated as well. His left hand is also blocked and he will have to have this amputated shortly also.
Troy has been off of work since April and has used all of his sick and vacation days and is currently without income. He has been in the hospital since May 9th.
With only his wife Debbie working and two grade-school sons, as well as an adult daughter, and three grandchildren at home it is a financial struggle.
We have started GoFundMe to help assist with the financial burden associated with Troy’s continued recovery. These costs include the growing medical costs, living expenses and support that is required, to make modifications to the house to accommodate a triple amputee.
Troy has a long road of recovery ahead of him and we want to help in any way possible. If you would consider donating to Troy to assist with all the bills that are coming in, we would all appreciate it. If you are unable to donate, that is ok. We welcome prayers and maybe share his story.
Thank you!
