As most of you know, on Tuesday July 30th we as a community tragically lost a beloved mother, family member, grandmother, wife, and friend. Susan McHugh, tragically passed away from a shooting that took place on Forest Avenue. She was 1 of 4 who were injured and taken to the hospital. Amongst those injured was her husband Troy who is still fighting in the hospital. Susan was everything in the world to Troy, their children, her family, and their grandkids. She was a disabled Army Veteran who joined the military right out of high school in 1988 and served for 7 years. She moved to Maine to raise her children Travis, and Danika. She adored her three granddaughters. They meant the world to her. She also adored her pups, and was working on getting one trained as a service dog.

One of her favorite things to say was "ditto." Troy would always text her while at work saying "I love you," and she would always respond with "Ditto." It was their thing for each other.

Because of the uncertainty, and severity of his hospitalization, there have been a lot of unexpected financial responsibilities for Troy, as well as costs associated with services to arrange. Susan and Troy were always the kind of people who helped anyone as much as they could who needed it. This family needs our help. I'm kindly asking on behalf of this very loving and generous family to help support them in this time. Any donations made will go directly to proper services arranged, medical bills for Troy, and any care services the family will need to get through this devastating time.
