For over two years, my son Trey suffered from headaches, neck pain, nausea, and dizziness. His primary care doctor diagnosed him with vertigo and prescribed medication for the nausea, but nothing seemed to help. On March 10, 2026—just two days after his 33rd birthday—Trey went to the ER in pain and off balance, having seen triple vision for several days. After a series of blood tests and scans, we received devastating news: a tumor had been found on his brain stem. I immediately traveled eight hours to be with him and have not left his side since.

On March 19, Trey was scheduled for what should have been a six-hour surgery to remove the tumor. Complications arose, including a brain bleed, and the surgery stretched to over eleven hours. He finally made it to the ICU at 3 a.m., heavily sedated and on a ventilator. Later that morning, doctors determined his best chance was to return to surgery immediately. Thankfully, the second surgery was a success and they were able to remove the entire tumor. However, Trey's recovery has been incredibly difficult. He has faced high fevers, dangerously high blood pressure, bradycardia, and a series of infections and complications, including Covid pneumonia, c-diff, empyema, and a blood clot. He has not been able to start chemo or radiation because he remains in the ICU, and what was supposed to be a two-day recovery has turned into a three-week stay. Trey has missed his son Legend’s third birthday, and although he cannot communicate, tears fall when we mention Legend or share that people are praying for him.

Outside the hospital, life continues. Trey's rent, utilities, and monthly expenses still need to be paid, even as he fights for his life. I am reaching out to our community for help to relieve some of the financial burden during this incredibly difficult time.
