Travis Ogilvie is a single dad facing an unexpected and long road ahead of recovery.
On November 10th, Travis was involved in a terrible accident at work. He was carrying a beam up a ladder and fell backwards, causing a traumatic head injury and a broken rib. He was taken immediately to St. Alphonsus Regional Medical Center and induced in a coma because of his brain injury. The nurses had to strap down his arms to prevent him from taking out his breathing tube. He was in a coma for 9 days before he awoke and was in the ICU for 12 days total before medical transport over to specialized rehab within St. Alphonsus. During this time his muscles atrophied, and he lost 15 pounds. Instead of sitting down at a family meal for Thanksgiving, Travis was beginning to re-learn how to walk, AND to re-learn how to talk. On November 26th Travis was medically transported to Salt Lake City, Utah, and is currently at the University of Utah Health Craig H. Neilsen Rehabilitation Center. As of today, his walking has greatly improved but he still needs specialized therapy before he can come home.
Doctors have recommended Travis stay under specialized therapy at this time. As you can imagine the ongoing unexpected medical expense and the injury itself which will require long-term therapy is just awful and heart-wrenching. Thank you to everyone who has called, texted, reached out, prayed and showed support during this challenging time. Travis will fight this battle, but he is not alone! Thank you.
