Well… I guess it’s never too early for some spring cleaning.
On March 10th, 2026, a tornado tore through my family’s home, causing catastrophic damage. Debris including wood, glass, insulation, and tree branches was thrown throughout the house, leaving the structure severely compromised and many of their belongings destroyed.
Like many people who live in tornado-prone areas, they never really expected something like this to happen to them and almost didn’t make it to the shelter in time. Tornadoes are always something that happens somewhere else… until they’re literally spawning in your living room. Honestly, with the luck our family tends to have, it almost feels on brand.
Thankfully, everyone made it out safely, including the three dogs and the cat. One of the dogs is approximately a billion years old and has now officially survived both the dinosaurs and a tornado. Unfortunately the same can’t be said about their stuff. They’re now working to replace basic essentials like clothing, toiletries, and supplies for their pets.
If you know our family, you know the main coping strategy has always been dark humor. The jokes have already started blowing in… and yes, this post might be getting a little long-winded (wink wink). But the reality is that this has been an incredibly scary and life-changing experience for them.
Call me biased, but I really do believe that they are some of the kindest, most generous people you could meet and the last people who would ever ask for help themselves, which is why I’m starting this fundraiser on their behalf. Donations will go toward replacing essentials and helping them begin rebuilding their life after the storm. If you’re able to donate, we are incredibly grateful. Even a few dollars helps and if not, sharing this page helps more than you know.
Thank you all so much for the love and support as they begin to rebuild their lives.
