This is Tor and Eve. Tor is a pastor at my church, Calvert Memorial Presbyterian in Etna, and Eve leads the Youth Group and Kids Program. Both of them dedicate countless hours to teaching Sunday School, organizing the Vacation Bible School Summer Program, and planning special events like the Harry Potter Halloween and Pikachu Party. Their love for the children in our community shines through everything they do. Calvert is a very small church, with only about 25 people in the congregation, and we are still standing because of leaders like Tor and Eve who do so much good for everyone around them.
Every week, kids get off the bus and head to Calvert for homework help, a snack, and some fun. On Sundays, Tor and Eve teach the teens about the Bible and how it relates to their daily lives. Right now, though, these two wonderful people have fallen on hard times. Tor has had several operations related to her diabetes and has not been able to work for the past couple of years. Eve works daily at a Shaler Day Care, but as we all know, daycare workers are so valuable yet not paid nearly enough. They are struggling to handle day-to-day expenses like their mortgage, utilities, and healthcare. Despite their own challenges, Tor and Eve are always the first to reach out and help others in need.
If you can give a little to help them pay their utilities, mortgage, and healthcare, it would mean so much. And if you’re not able to give, please keep them in your prayers. Your support—big or small—will help Tor and Eve continue their incredible work in our church and community.
