My name is Megan, and I am TJ Olmstead’s sister. I am reaching out on behalf of my brother TJ, his wife Stephanie, and their children Sam and Georgia, who are facing an unimaginable challenge. On January 20, 2026, TJ was diagnosed with Stage 4 Esophageal cancer. Just weeks later, on February 10, the day before he was scheduled to begin chemotherapy, TJ was rushed to Yale New Haven Hospital for emergency brain surgery due to a sudden brain abscess. Since that day, he has remained hospitalized, fighting to recover from brain surgery, infection, and severe nutritional issues. The journey to begin cancer treatment has not yet started, and the road ahead will be long and incredibly difficult for TJ and his family.
TJ is a devoted husband and loving father. Right now, his focus must be on stabilizing, regaining strength, and preparing for the fight that is still to come. Meanwhile, medical expenses not covered by insurance are quickly accumulating. Everyday household bills continue, and additional unforeseen costs arise with each new development. Adding to the strain, Sam will be starting college at UCONN this fall, creating another significant financial responsibility during an already overwhelming time. These are all very overwhelming facts that Stephanie is forced to face while she should be focusing on TJ, Sam, and Georgia. We are asking for support to help ease the financial burden on TJ, Stephanie, and their family so they can focus fully on his recovery and the treatment that awaits him. Any contribution, no matter the amount, will go directly toward uncovered medical expenses, ongoing household costs, and the many unexpected expenses that accompany a medical crisis of this magnitude.
If you are unable to give financially, we ask for your prayers, positive thoughts, and for you to share this page with others. Thank you for standing with our family during this incredibly difficult time. Your love and support mean more than words can express.
