In just three weeks, our lives changed dramatically. My husband Timothy, who thought he was dealing with kidney stones for over a year, was suddenly diagnosed with a large mass in his bladder after a CT scan. The whirlwind that followed included a nephrostomy bag, surgery, and a biopsy, which revealed non-invasive papillary carcinoma. While the tumor has been surgically removed, we are now facing the uncertainty of further treatment and the reality that this type of cancer often recurs, requiring frequent monitoring and possible ongoing care.
This diagnosis has deeply affected our family. We have a 6 year old son and a 4 year old daughter, and both Timothy and I have had to miss work - him for treatment and recovery, and I have scaled back my hours as a cosmetologist to care for him and our children. The financial strain is real: we are struggling to keep up with insurance costs, copays, household bills, and childcare expenses while our income is reduced.
Timothy and I have been together since high school, and we are both in our 30s. Timothy repairs Chromebooks provided to students in our local school district, helping make education more accessible for all. He is always learning new ways to improve his work and expand his abilities in technology, so he can better help others in the field. He enjoys spending time with our family, golfing, and cooking. We are reaching out for support to help us get through this challenging time, so we can focus on Timothy’s recovery and continue to care for our family and community.
If you’re able, please consider making a monthly donation - your ongoing support will help us manage Timothy’s care and our family’s needs over time. Thank you for all the generosity.
