Support for Timmy and Trish - Disney World

Timmy was diagnosed with cancer in 2014. I remember when he first told me, it was like it was nothing to him and it took me about a week for it to really settle in and grasp the severity of what he had told me. He managed to brush it off as if he was just telling me he has a cold and might not be able to meet up this week.

Timmy has always been a tough cookie, somewhat stubborn, a little mouthy but honestly the most incredible guy I have had the pleasure of knowing. I am sure this is the same for anyone else who has had the pleasure of getting to know him. His strength through these challenging few years is nothing less than admirable and he has fought everything that has been chucked at him.

Timmy initially fought off the cancer but in 2015 he was re diagnosed and this time was given an approximate lifespan of 18 months. I only learnt this in these past two weeks and I am grateful I didn’t know before as Timmy has fought on and 4 years later he is still fighting like a champ.

By his side the whole time has been his loving wife Trish, I have never had more respect for anyone else in my life than I do her. No matter how tough things have got, she has stuck by Tim and between them they continue to take on anything.

A few months ago we planned and booked a trip to Disney World Florida for September 2020. At this stage Timmy had been stable for some time and chemo had been doing it’s job of keeping the cancer at bay. Booking in advance also allowed Timmy and Trish more time to save as they have been getting by on a single salary.

A couple of weeks ago, Timmy was rushed in to hospital having taken a bit of a bad turn to his Chemo and it was discovered that the Chemo had stopped working. This is something that unfortunately happens at a certain point during peoples treatment, your body gets to a point in which it rejects it. Timmy’s consultant is working with him on alternative options but we have been given a new time-frame. The consultant has said the estimated life-span at this stage is 9-12 months on average.

Now we know Timmy, he is going to fight as strongly as ever. Regardless, we have decided to bring the trip forwards and have an option of doing it this coming November. Unfortunately it means us losing a considerable deposit we have already paid on flights through Thomas Cook but none of us have the energy to fight that, we just want Timmy and Trish to have this life changing experience and to mitigate any of the stress.

We are looking to raise £3000 to cover Timmy’s trip and anything above this will go towards Trish’s as we don’t want either of them having to worry about money. I know it is a little ambitious but I know there are so many of you that would be honoured to contribute and help this amazing couple out, no matter how small your contribution may be, every pound will help significantly.

I’d like to thank you all in advance for your support and for everyone who has supported Tim and his family over the years.
