A few days ago, our family’s world was turned upside down.
My oldest brother, Thomas, hadn’t been feeling well, so his wife, Vernita, took him to the emergency room. While there, Thomas suffered two major seizures and became unresponsive. Doctors placed him into a medically induced coma, and after extensive testing, we learned he has viral meningitis.
He has now been in the hospital for several days. His condition is serious, with fluid buildup in his brain. Thankfully, Thomas is beginning to regain consciousness, and we are holding onto hope for a full recovery — but the road ahead remains uncertain.
This has been an incredibly frightening and overwhelming time for our family.
Thomas is in early retirement, and Vernita works as a freelance doula. Unfortunately, neither of them has health insurance. The medical bills are already mounting, and Vernita will need to take time away from work to care for Thomas during his recovery. The financial strain is significant, and we are humbly reaching out to our community for support.
Any contribution, no matter the amount, would mean more than we can express. If you’re unable to give financially, please consider sharing this fundraiser and keeping Thomas and our family in your thoughts and prayers.
We are deeply grateful for your kindness, support, and love during this difficult time.
