It is with a heavy heart and great sadness to inform every one that Thomas Dodson passed away last night (12/8/25).
Thomas was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer at the end of summer 2025.
He started chemo and radiation right away to help with his symptoms.
We all had so much hope for him!
He stayed very positive during this time.
He even got to ring the bell after his radiation treatments, which he was so proud of!
Then about 2 weeks ago he got really sick with pneumonia and that turned into an infection in his lungs.
They discovered that there was more cancer in parts of his lungs as well.
He was so sick he could no longer receive treatment.
It was becoming hard for Thomas to breathe that he was connected to a biPAP oxygen machine for over a week.
Yesterday morning the nurses and doctor had a hard discussion with Thomas and his family.
We were told that the machine was keeping him alive and he could no longer breathe on his own.
He didn’t have many options left.
He decided that he was so exhausted and ready to go. This meant that he would be made comfortable and be taken off of oxygen.
At this point he could no longer talk, so he would communicate through text on his phone. He typed out his goodbyes while we read them out load. We got to spend the last hours of his life with him.. telling him how loved he was and going over memories.
He got to FaceTime his mom and see two of his best friends before the machine was taken off of him.
He passed away around 6:45pm with the love of his life, Stacy Mock, holding him in her arms. His father Thomas praying over him. And myself, Stacy’s daughter, holding his hand until his last breath.
This all happened so quickly, he thought he had more time.
Stacy and Thomas’s parents are all in agreement to cremate Thomas and we will plan a celebration of life at some point.
We are just trying to get through this hard part first.
If anyone has any donations to go towards Thomas’s funeral expenses, it would be a weight off Stacy and his parent’s shoulders.
And very much appreciated.
Thomas was a light in this world. He was so happy, positive, kind, loving, and hilarious. I am thankful for the life he gave my mom and how much he loved her. He made such a positive impact on so many people.
Thomas we will miss you dearly.
