I’m writing this with a heavy heart on behalf of our amazing friend Theresa Breedlove – a woman who has spent the last 27 years saving lives as a respiratory therapist. Theresa has always put her family first and her patients a very close second. She’s traveled for work the past eight years, bringing her compassion and skill to hospitals across the country. Everyone who knows her – at work or in the community – knows what a genuinely good, strong, and caring person she is. She is the proud mother of three incredible kids:
• Isaac, 21, who just got engaged to his wonderful fiancée Grace
• Kaitlynn, 17, who was recently accepted into the University of Toledo psychology program
• Karli, our freshman superstar with a 4.0 GPA who just started on the varsity volleyball team and is already shining
Theresa has worked tirelessly her entire life – starting in a nursing home, earning her respiratory therapy license, and dedicating herself to helping others breathe easier. She’s the kind of person who lights up a room and makes everyone feel cared for. Ten days ago, her world turned upside down. Theresa was diagnosed with severe colon issues. Surgeons removed her ascending and transverse colon. Just two days later, they discovered a dangerous kink in her lower bowel and had to rush her back into surgery to fix it. The very next day, while trying to stand up, Theresa suddenly collapsed. Her heart rate and blood pressure crashed. She lost consciousness. They thought they had lost her, her husband Chad watched the whole thing happened and even carried her back to her bed. She was immediately intubated and life-flighted to St. Vincent’s Medical Hospital in Toledo, where she remains in critical condition fighting for her life. These have been the hardest eight months of her and her families lives – and the last two weeks have been unbearable. Watching her collapse today broke all of their hearts. They are now facing months of recovery, rehabilitation, and massive medical bills that insurance will not fully cover. They don’t yet know the total cost, but they are preparing for the worst: • Additional surgeries and ICU stays • Extended hospital care • Rehabilitation and therapy • Lost income while Theresa can’t work • Travel and lodging for family visiting her in Toledo. They are asking for your help so Theresa can focus on healing instead of worrying about finances. Every single dollar will go directly toward her medical bills and supporting the family during this crisis. We promise to post regular updates with progress reports, photos (when she’s ready), and bills paid. Theresa has spent her life helping others. Now we’re humbly asking you to help her. Even a small donation of $10, $25, or $50 makes a real difference. If you can’t give right now, sharing this page with your friends, family, coworkers, church group, or on social media could reach someone who can. From the bottom of our hearts – thank you for reading, for caring, and for any support you can give. Your kindness means the world to Theresa and their entire family right now. With gratitude and hope, friends of The Breedlove family.
