Hi everyone,
We’re reaching out on behalf of our amazing mom and her husband, who are currently navigating one of the hardest times in their lives.
Her husband was recently diagnosed with throat cancer, and today they went in for what was meant to be a procedure to remove it. We were all hopeful this would be a big step toward recovery but unfortunately, things didn’t go as planned.
Instead of being able to fully remove the cancer today, they’ve been told they’ll need to travel back to the mainland for further treatment. That means more time off work, more ferry trips, more gas, hotel stays, and all the added stress and costs that come with getting care far from home.
Our mom is the kind of person who shows up for everyone: always giving, always caring, and deeply loved in her community for her warm heart and her willingness to help others without hesitation. Christian is the exact same. She would never ask for help herself — but we are for her.
What she and her husband need right now is the space to focus on each other and on healing and not on how they’re going to make ends meet while dealing with all of this. Christian should not be fighting cancer and having to work just so they can pay their bills. They should be able to focus on each other and healing. But instead they are scared about a huge financial loss or Chris getting worse because he goes back to work instead of resting. This is NOT okay. Someone with cancer shouldn’t be working themselves to death.
If you’re able to donate, it would mean the world. Even the smallest gift helps lighten the load. And if you can’t give right now, just sharing this helps more than you know.
Thank you so much for your kindness,
Emily & Alexandra
