Support for the Whetstine Family

In October of 2021, after Ally and Michael returned from their trip celebrating their 4th wedding anniversary (and 14th year together), Michael started to have some pain in his chest. His PCP just thought it was a torn/pulled muscle from his sternum. However, the pain did not improve and started spreading to his neck and back. In January 2022, Michael thought he just had a slipped disc in his back and DJD in his neck. He had started Physical Therapy and saw a chiropractor. After about a month of no improvement, they went in for an MRI. It was found that he had several lesions throughout his spine and was diagnosed with cancer. During the next few months, doctors have tried to pinpoint the primary cancer origin. It was finally found to be Stage 4 Pancreatic Cancer with metastasis to the bones. The tumors on his spine prevent him from using his arms and severely limit his mobility. Since 02/22/22, he lost all mobility and has since been at St Anthony's Hospital. They have started him on Chemotherapy and are hoping it may help him regain some mobility.

In anticipation of him returning home with limited mobility, Ally has received a hospital bed and a lift to help with transfers. Michael will need 24-hour care/assistance upon returning home, which can be pretty costly. Michael and Ally are a lovely couple that needs all the love and support they can get.
