On Thursday evening, the Way family’s world was turned upside down.
Andy collapsed at home while he was with their daughter, Macie. In a moment no little girl should ever have to face, Macie bravely called 911 and helped save her Daddy’s life. As Amy raced home from work, she coordinated neighbors and did everything she could from the car until first responders arrived.
It was truly a miracle that Andy even made it to the hospital, where doctors discovered a Type A aortic dissection—a sudden, life-threatening emergency that many people don’t survive long enough to reach the ER. Thankfully, the surgeon arrived quickly and was able to take Andy straight into emergency open-heart surgery. After eight long, terrifying hours, the procedure was successful.
Andy is now in the ICU—stable, but still critically ill—with a long and fragile road ahead.
Amy is doing everything she possibly can: staying by Andy’s side, caring for the girls, processing the shock of all of this, and still trying to juggle work because the financial pressure is real with Andy unable to work and Amy needing to be fully present for both him and the girls. Both sides of their family have been incredible—helping with the girls and supporting however they can—even as they’re navigating their own worry and heartbreak.
We love the Way’s deeply, and so do so many of you.
Amy is naturally very hesitant about accepting financial help, and she wanted that to be known. It’s not something she takes lightly. But with so many people asking how to support them, she has opened her hands to let her community walk alongside them in this season.
This is a moment for all of us who love them to surround their family with steady support.
They continue to be strengthened by each prayer — please keep them coming. And for those who feel led to help financially, please know that every single gift truly eases some of the weight they’re facing in this unimaginable season.
Thank you for loving this family so well. ❤️
