Dear friends and family,
We are reaching out to you today with heavy hearts and a plea for prayers and support for our wonderful sister-in-law's incredible mom, Stephanie. As many of you know, her dad, Dennis, has been facing significant health challenges throughout most of 2025, spending much of his time in the hospital or a transitional care facility. Last week, he was transferred to Methodist Hospital.
This past Tuesday, May 6th, while Stephanie was visiting Dennis, she suddenly became very ill. The nurses quickly took her to the emergency department, where testing revealed alarming news. She was admitted and moved to the neurology floor due to stroke-like symptoms. By early Wednesday morning, her condition worsened, and she was transferred to the ICU with dangerously low blood pressure.
It was there that doctors discovered she was suffering from sepsis, caused by completely blocked kidneys due to multiple kidney stones. She underwent surgery to have stents placed in both kidneys.
As expected, things were challenging in the initial hours, but there is hope. Stephanie has since been transferred to Abbott for additional resources and to be placed on ECMO (Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation) to give her body much-needed time to rest and heal. We are so relieved to share that she was successfully placed on ECMO without any issues. Since then, the medical team has been able to slightly reduce the amount of antibiotics and other medications she's on, and her blood pressure has shown improvement. They are going to begin dialysis as her kidneys have taken a significant hit. Importantly, while her heart has been very strained, doctors have confirmed that it looks good overall, with all valves and arteries in great shape.
Stephanie is a true powerhouse, a born caretaker who always puts others first, especially Dennis. This unexpected health crisis has been a shock to everyone, but we know her strength will shine through.
Please send your prayers for her continued healing. This family has been through so much recently, and they are now facing immense emotional and financial strain. We are setting up this GoFundMe to help alleviate some of the burdens they are facing as they navigate this incredibly challenging time. Any support you can offer, whether through prayers or donations, would be a tremendous comfort to them.
Thank you for your kindness and generosity.
With love and gratitude,
Abby, Ashley, and Erica (the sisters-in-law)
