Faith, Family, and the Fight Against Cancer

We’re reaching out with an urgent and heartfelt request.

Our dear brother-in-law, son-in-law, and friend, Chris Umsteadt, has been diagnosed with Pancreatic Neuroendocrine Tumor (PNET) - a rare and aggressive form of pancreatic cancer that demands immediate and specialized treatment.

In early March, Chris began experiencing symptoms that resembled those of stomach flu. Within a week, he was in the ER and admitted to the hospital with acute kidney failure. A CT scan revealed a mass on the tail of his pancreas and spots on his liver. A biopsy confirmed our worst fears: cancer. Thankfully, his kidneys have recovered, but the road ahead remains steep and uncertain as doctors work to determine the best course of treatment.

Despite the challenges, Chris has shown incredible strength, faith, and resilience. He has always been the first to lend a hand to someone in need. His unwavering love for Jesus and positive spirit have been an inspiration to everyone around him.

Chris and his wife, Kelsey, are deeply involved in their church community. They serve as leaders in the Kids Worship service, volunteer at summer camps, and assist in leading Bible study groups. Their dedication to serving others, especially children, has touched many lives. Now, Chris needs our support.

Chris and Kelsey are newlyweds who just celebrated their first anniversary in February. Last September, they were surprised and overjoyed to learn that they were expecting. Their beautiful, blended family—affectionately known as “The U-Crew”—includes seven amazing kids, with baby number eight due any day now.

A new baby on the way, raising a large family, and a cancer diagnosis has placed immense emotional and financial stress on their shoulders. Medical expenses have already begun to pileup—and there are many more to come.

We’re determined to walk alongside Chris through this fight with love, prayer, and action. Every donation, every prayer, and every share helps lift the burden of this incredible family, bringing them one step closer to healing and hope.
