**Friday morning Bailey was in a car accident and suffered serious injuries.  Our number one request for this family is PRAYER. If you are able to help beyond prayer we have created a go fund me in their name to help with whatever they may need financially as Bailey recovers. Both Brian and Brianna have been with Bailey since the accident and have had to take time off work and will continue to throughout Bailey's recovery.  If we can help ease some stress financially, we know they would greatly appreciate it during this difficult time.

A note from Brianna (12/29/19):
I’d like to begin by saying that Brian & I are so very thankful that the Lord was watching over our baby girl and her three friends. They were all together when they were in a serious vehicle accident involving a cow in the middle of the road after dark Thursday evening. Only in the country, I know. Things could have ended very differently. Bailey was thrown from the vehicle and wasn’t able to be found right away. I can’t give enough praise to the two young men who were with my daughter and her best friend that night. I am forever grateful for their bravery because we could have lost our only child had they not acted so quickly and kept their composure under the circumstances to help these two girls. All four sustained injuries. Bailey is currently in the PICU at Children’s Mercy downtown. She sustained multiple injuries including a laceration to her forehead, a swollen black and blue eye, broken teeth, fractured septum, fracture to the outer bone under her left eye, collapsed right lung & bruised left lung resulting in two chest tubes, 10 broken ribs, two fractured wrists, a dislocated hip and laceration on her knee. She is one lucky girl and it’s a miracle that her injuries were not worse. We are not sure when she will be released from the PICU and into a regular room but we are hoping possibly Monday. She is scheduled for Tuesday to have another surgery to place plates and screws in her wrists.
I want to thank everyone who has extended their well wishes and offered their support to us all. Thanks so much for the friends and family who have visited us so far. We are beyond thankful and grateful!! I’m also so very thankful to all the families involved, that we have been able to share our love and support for each other through this tough ordeal. I don’t know what I would do without it. Much love to you all.

Update on Bailey from Brianna (12/31/2019):
We are so overwhelmed with the love and support we have received from some incredibly amazing family and friends and even strangers and we want you all to know how much it means to Brian and I. It has made this impossible situation so much easier to bear.
It was really hard for Bailey and her best friend Shae to be on different parts of the hospital and unable to see each other when they 1st arrived at the hospital and to see them united when Shae was released brought tears to my eyes. These girls really love each other and I am so glad that out of a bad situation at least they have each other to lean on. Shae suffered a concussion along with her other injuries and is on the concussion protocol. Tonight they made it clear to us that Bailey too is supposed to be following the concussion protocol which we were not aware of until now. Which makes sense considering the head trauma she endured even though they did not diagnose her specifically with a concussion. So we are having to go back to limiting her visitors to 2 at a time and giving her plenty of time to rest and also limiting her stimulation. Her condition is improving although they have pushed back her surgery for both her wrists to Monday the 6th because her lungs are not quite healthy enough to endure the surgery. Bailey is out of the PICU now and has been moved to a regular room which is so much more comfortable for all of us. She did make it out of her bed today. She has been given a brace to support her hip and they were able to get her into her wheelchair for the 1st time. It is unclear whether she will be well enough to go home before her surgery or if we will still be here in the hospital. We are taking it day by day. Thank you so much to everyone that has taken the time out of their lives to reach out to us or to visit our baby girl. Each and every one of you have put a smile on her face and lifted her spirits and oh how grateful we are to see that smile of hers.

Update on Bailey from Brianna (1/2/20):
Bailey is continuing to improve day by day. They removed her last chest tube today so that is great news. She is at least a little more comfortable and we are able to transition her more easily from her bed to the commode and wheelchair. They are not saying wether or not she will be released from the hospital before her surgery on Monday to place plates and screws in both her wrists or if she will need to remain in the hospital. She will stay in the hospital overnight after her surgery so that they can monitor her lungs so I’m anticipating that we will be heading home Tuesday. They are saying she will be wheelchair-bound for at least six weeks. After her wrist surgery we will have to see what kind of function she has to determine when exactly she will be able to return to school.
We are thankful to have some fantastic friends and family who have helped us through this ordeal. They have uplifted her spirit so much with stuffed animals and flowers and gifts etc. We also had some great friends already build a wheelchair ramp at our home to help prepare us for when we transition her there. We are still learning what her limitations are going to be so we can be prepared for when she does come home.
Soon enough this will all be a distant memory and these girls will be back to their same old shenanigans
I thank God everyday that we still have our baby girl and we will never be able to repay all the kindness that we have received. Much love to everyone who has helped us in one way or another through this process. We still have a long road of recovery so we will still need to rely on you all for a while longer. We are and will be forever grateful to you all!!

Update on Bailey from Brianna (1/5/20):
So we are still here at the hospital and Bailey is scheduled for surgery first thing In the morning at 7:30am. She will stay overnight then she should be released on Tuesday. Then we will discover exactly what our new normal is going to be as she recovers. She is keeping her spirits high. She can’t wait to be out of isolation and to finally be able to feel the fresh air on her face. Please continue to keep her in your prayers and when we get settled at home she would love to have company for those who would like to visit.

Update on Bailey from Brianna (1/6/20):
We just got her back in her room about an hour and a half ago. Surgery went well. She’s frustrated because she’s in pain and they said the pain should be less after surgery but maybe they didn’t mean right after surgery. She’s on a pain drip but we have to get her transitioned back to oral meds before she can be discharged. The nurses are going to really try to make that happen for us. She’s resting now and we really haven’t had a chance to visit with her. If she can sleep through this initial pain then all the better.

Update on Bailey from Brianna (1/7/20):
Bailey woke up today with the worst pain thus far Her wrists were swollen so much that they had to stretch the split in each of her casts and what a relief that was. They transitioned her to oral pain meds but defaulted to every 6 hrs instead of every 3 hrs which is what she was on before. We had them fix those orders ASAP before her head started to spin around like in the movie “The Exorcist”. She met again with the physical therapist & occupational therapist & she worked on using her walker. She’s limited to a max of 5 feet w/ the walker but it will get her up and moving to help her circulation. With her pain level today and the fact that we have an appointment tomorrow nearby w/ the Oral & Maxillofacial doctor for the fractures she has on her face they thought they would keep her one more day. So fingers crossed tomorrow we head home.
