Support for the Taylor family. Jon is in the ICU.
Donation protected
Our dear friend, Jon Taylor, (husband to Bre + father to Jack, Liv, and Jules) experienced a medical emergency over the weekend and is currently in the ICU fighting for his life. While we are all fervently praying for Jon to have a full recovery, we would also like to help the Taylor Family financially during this difficult time. They are a homeschooling family of five and every little bit can help!
On Sunday, August 11, 2024, Jon was found unconscious on the bathroom floor. He had been experiencing pain from a possible UTI recently, so it was assumed he might have lost consciousness from the extreme pain. Jon was taken to the nearest hospital by ambulance and after some testing and a CT scan, a miraculous discovery of an aortic aneurysm was found. His aortic valve had split, and he was bleeding internally. Jon needed immediate emergency surgery. He was promptly transferred to Johnson City Hospital where he had a 4+ hourlong open heart surgery which included being put on bypass while a graft was put in. Aside from the UTI and aortic aneurism, new concerns about his kidney function and cognitive state were present. Praise the Lord, Jon has been in the ICU since Sunday evening and has shown great signs of improvement. He is sedated and intubated for the time being, but the doctors and nurses have said he has shown good cognitive health when sedation was lowered for a time; he responded to basic commands and answered meaningful questions by nodding.
Current prayer requests:
-Kidneys to process all the fluids and swelling to go down.
-There is fluid in one lung, pray this is resolved soon.
-He needs correction of blood coagulation factors. Basically, they’re trying to balance the blood thickness after receiving volume resuscitation (more blood). Also pray for no clotting.
-Pray that Jon is able to be extubated soon and can be taken off sedation so that they can confirm his cognitive health.
-For Bre and the kids to have strength and peace throughout the upcoming days and weeks as Jon recovers. We still do not know what recovery will look like just yet.
PRAISE Report: Bre and Jon have been blessed with an amazing community of friends and church-family since moving to TN last year. Their friends and church wasted no time! They have helped with meals, transportation, watching the kids, and caring for their animals while Bre has been by Jon’s side. Bre has been blessed to have a friend with her at the hospital at all times, both of their pastors have come to support them, and another friend opened their home so Bre could stay somewhere close to the hospital! (The hospital is 1 hour away from the Taylor home, this friend lives 5 minutes from the hospital). Praise the Lord!
I will do my best to update as we get more information. Any monetary assistance is greatly appreciated, but of course your prayers are needed most of all! Thank you!
