Please help this local single dad and his four-year-old son get into a safe place!
On the evening of December 21st, flash-flood water rushed into the Hartnell Oaks apartments, with water levels quickly escalating to 6”-7” in each room. As Tommy Talkington carried his son Micah to his truck, water was up to his hip. After getting his son to safety, he went back to check on elderly neighbors, some in wheelchairs and motorized chairs.
Almost everything the Talkington’s owned was destroyed or damaged by dirty standing floodwater. They are devastated financially and are trying to put down a deposit on a new apartment and replace furniture, including Micah’s Christmas presents, which was flooded under the Christmas tree. The photo above shows the moments the flood-water started seeping in through the sliding door.
They are searching for a two-bedroom apartment to move into by January 1st, as the owners of Hartnell Oaks are encouraging residents to move out as soon as possible.
We know many people are hurting, but absolutely anything will help get this family to a clean, safe place during the holidays.
