Hey everyone,
On Thanksgiving eve of this year, a close friend of ours almost lost his life. Shane, 43, was leaving the hockey rink after coaching 3 different hockey practices for his 3 sons (ages 10, 11 and 14) when he collapsed to the ground. Fortunately help came immediately, and they were able to get him quickly to the hospital. Shane had a massive heart attack. His heart was so weak afterwards, he needed to be on a heart pump.
We were happy… we had some good news, but there were some complications. During evaluation upon arrival to Presby, they found that the heart pump catheter damaged his artery to his leg. He had lost blood flow to his left leg for some time, resulting in the need for a leg amputation.
Fortunately, Shane has been progressing quickly!! He was discharged home just 2 weeks after the event. He has a long road to recovery including intense rehab. God has made miracles happen with this family, and we want to make sure we keep lifting them up during this time.
Shane and his family have done so much for us all, always giving their time to help others especially when it came to hockey! This family is in need though… there will be medical bills, rehab needs and modifications to their home. If you are looking to help someone this time of year, will you consider helping our friends??
Thank you all, and Merry Christmas.
