Support for the Sowder Family

On the morning of October 7th while on his way to work as a mechanic at Yankee Harley our brother in law Matt Sowder was cut off by a truck making a right turn in front of him on Pine Street in Bristol. Unfortunately Matt was unable to stop in time and hit the back of the trailer that the truck was pulling which threw him off of his motorcycle onto the street. Thankfully Matt was wearing his helmet as his wife Dawn always insisted and was spared a far worse outcome. Matt was immediately transported to St. Francis hospital in Hartford where it was discovered that his right leg was broken in three places. The following day Matt endured an almost 5 hour surgery to attempt to put his shattered leg back together. Following the surgery the surgeon was far more optimistic than he originally predicted but over the next few days when Matt started physical therapy it was discovered that his wrist was broken as well. As you can imagine the road to recovery will be a lengthy and costly one so we are trying to lessen the burden in any way we possibly can by starting this fundraiser. As many of you know Matt Sowder is one of the top mechanics at Yankee Harley in Bristol CT and with the severity of his injuries the doctors anticipate him home for at least 10 weeks and unable to go back to unrestricted duty for another 6 months after that. Our sister/Matt’s wife Dawn has been a stay at home mom to their three children and will now be looking for work so while Matt is recovering she can bring in some income to help with the household bills. The next year will be very trying for the Sowders and although we know they will make it through because of God and the love and support of their family we are kindly asking for any donations that you can spare to help them recover the medical cost and lost wages that they will endure over the next 9 months or so.
