Hello everyone,

This year has started with a terrifying beginning as our 9 month old daughter Agnes has been admitted to the Alberta Children’s Hospital for an unforeseen amount of time. On December 27th, we woke up to her in obvious pain with a rash all over her body and swollen and stiff legs. Unfortunately the doctor did not believe it was anything serious at that time and we were sent home with Tylenol and Advil. On January 3rd, her symptoms had only worsened. We went to the ER and as we were speaking to the nurse, her face started swelling and we were thankfully rushed in and admitted almost immediately. Since then, Agnes has been through multiple x-rays and ultrasounds, countless blood tests, two CT scans, an MRI, a spinal tap, a blood transfusion, and 7 procedures in the OR. The doctors are hopeful that they have found every cause and targeted each area of infection now, however, we will have to remain in hospital for some remaining testing, monitoring, and her healing for a minimum of 4-6 weeks. We are asking for any community support during this time. I, Oksana, am on maternity leave and am able to spend days and nights in the hospital with her. However, Johnny does not get paid for any time that he takes off, and so any financial help to cover our basic bills and necessities would take off some stress from the both of us during this difficult time. We also would appreciate any prayer or emotional support you are willing to give. Agnes has been extremely brave and strong through this all, and we cannot wait to see her smiling and out of pain. Thank you to everyone who took time to read this, and also to all the nurses, doctors, surgeons, and specialists who have been caring for our baby so well.
