Molly and Justin Sindelar are dear friends and fellow special-needs parents who have shown incredible strength and love for their family. Right now, their daughter Isla is facing a heartbreaking decline in health.
Isla was born with a rare genetic condition called Jarcho-Levin Syndrome, which causes severe vertebral and rib malformations. For Isla, this includes fused, deformed, and missing vertebrae, along with congenital scoliosis and lordosis. Her ribcage is fused where the ribs meet the spine, preventing her lungs from fully developing and leaving them about half the size they should be.

Because Isla’s condition is so rare, most of her care has taken place at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. Over the past 8 years, Isla has undergone 16 surgeries to open her ribcage and make room for her lungs to grow and support her body. By God’s grace, these surgeries have helped her breathe far better than expected for many years.
In the past five months, however, Isla’s health has changed. Her tiny lungs have begun to decline, and her airway has become critically compromised.

The current option is ventilation support to help maintain the lung capacity she still has and buy her more time. For now, additional surgeries are on hold, and her medical team is uncertain whether future surgical intervention will be possible. Through it all, Isla faces each day with remarkable bravery.

This fundraiser is for the whole Sindelar family—Molly, Justin, Isla, and Zeke. Justin has been working overtime on weekends just to keep up with expenses, but what they need most right now is time together. The funds raised will allow Justin to spend more weekends at home, giving Molly support and ensuring Isla and Zeke have their dad by their side during this difficult season.

The Sindelars have always been deeply grateful for the prayers and support they’ve received, but their challenges have only grown. Please consider helping this wonderful family and keeping them in your prayers.
