Support for the Shunk Family

We lost my brother-in-law Garrett suddenly on Tuesday- leaving my sister, Dotti a widow at 26 and their two small children without a father. This was a devastating blow to our family, and we will miss him deeply.

Dotti is surrounded by friends and family and has a great deal of moral support. Unfortunately, Garrett passed without any life insurance, and my sister is suddenly a single mom who’s been out of the workforce for a bit raising their children. We are tapping into our community in hopes of providing her with just a little more financial support while she navigates the next few months and adjusts to this new reality.

These funds will go toward offsetting childcare costs, trauma counseling for my sister and the kids, and helping her reskill/upskill to re-enter the workforce.

If there is one thing I know, it’s that Garrett loved Dotti fiercely. He wanted to take care of her. At their wedding, I told a story during my speech about how when we were kids, I would get down on my hands and knees at the park so Dotti could climb up onto the jungle gym. I promised her that even though she was getting married and off to start her own family, I’d always be there to give her a lift when she needed it. Be it a jungle gym or whatever obstacle life threw at her.

So here I am to lift her up, and if you’re up for giving her a little lift too, I’d be endlessly grateful.
