Support the Sheadens and their daughter Sadie
Donation protected
Please consider supporting Kaelin and Chris if you are in a position to do so. Their vibrant, joyful and beautiful 8-year old daughter Sadie has a brain tumour that requires surgery -- resulting in months of lost income for both parents as they travel with her to Vancouver and attend to her over months of recovery.
For the past year, Sadie has suffered almost daily seizures, and last spring they were informed it was due to a rare, slow-growing brain tumour (believed to be ganglioglioma). The medications have been only slightly helpful and have left Sadie with multiple negative side-effects. Surgery is now the best path forward for her and she is scheduled to have a 6-hour brain surgery on October 22 at BC Children's Hospital in Vancouver.
Sadie is expected to spend 24 hours in the ICU and then another week in the Neurology ward. Kaelin and Chris, and their 11-year old son Wade, will be with her for the surgery and the week following. Kaelin will stay for 2 weeks. They are grateful to be able to stay at the Ronald McDonald House.
On November 5, Kaelin and Sadie fly home. Sadie will not go to school for 4-6 weeks and when she does, it will be incremental, following brain injury recovery protocols.
Please consider helping Kaelin and Chris, who are both self-employed, as they take off periods of work to tend to the needs of their beloved daughter.
Thank you for your support.
