SUPPORT FOR THE SELSOR FAMILY

Hi, my name is Maddy. Thank you for taking the time to read my story. I am a 22 year old girl who, without warning and without being able to say goodbye or how much I love her, lost my best friend…my mother, Eva Selsor. I also have a brave brother named Jacob, who is 20 years old, and a heartbroken dad named Joe. This is our story…
In the early morning hours on Friday, November 5th, just 4 days after celebrating her 49th birthday, the world lost a beloved mother, wife, coworker and friend, Eva Selsor. Our mom was walking home and was tragically hit by a semi truck. She was pronounced dead on the scene. Although we are grateful that she didn’t suffer, we are overwhelmed with grief. She was taken too soon.
Our mom’s death has been extraordinarily difficult for us and our dad. Our mom was the most caring, genuine, outgoing, funny, loyal and selfless person that you could think of. Our family has never had much, but our mom made it possible for us to get by on love, laughter and her hard work as a server these past 15 years.
Our family has always been a close unit. When our grandmother died a few years ago, my mom and dad pushed through the pain and depression to provide for us. When our dad was diagnosed with nose cancer and left without a nose, making him unable to work this past year, my mom never gave up hope. She bore the burden and became the sole financial provider for our family.
We don’t know how to go on, or where to go from here. We didn’t lose just a mother. We lost our best friend, mentor, teacher, caretaker, therapist, role model and comedian. In a blink of an eye and without any warning, we lost our lifeline, our biggest advocate, the glue that held our family together, our cheerleader and emotional and financial supporter.
Although we have always had our own financial struggles as a family, my mom was the kind of person that always put the needs of others before her own. She would give you the shirt off her back if you needed it.
Although our mom’s death was sudden, we hope and pray that our family’s future will not not be unbearable. May her death not be in vain. May our mom’s memory live on by the giving in her name. Please consider donating any amount you can spare to help us cremate our mother and give her the celebration of life that she deserves. No amount is too small. Any amount at all is greatly appreciated and will be put towards her cremation, celebration of life/funeral expenses, our dad’s medical bills for his cancer treatments and to put food on our table during this extremely difficult time! Thank you so much and thank you for reading our story. Please spread the word.
We are planning a celebration of life and a luncheon at one of her favorite restaurants, The Warsaw Inn, in Lynwood, IL. However, the date is still pending because of our dad’s upcoming cancer treatment.
Thank you again!
Love,
Maddy
