On April 15th, KC Schnitker was called home to the Lord following a sudden heart attack, leaving behind her beloved husband, Ed, and their seven children, the youngest only eleven. Our community feels this loss profoundly. Yet even in our grief, we hold fast to the quiet certainty that her radiant spirit endures in all who were blessed to know her. KC was a woman of extraordinary generosity, an attentive, beautiful and devoted mother, a faithful friend, and a pillar within our community. She poured herself wholeheartedly into the formation and education of her children, and extended that same care to countless others through the Chesterton community. The beauty she cultivated there through her gifts, her creativity, and her tireless dedication will continue to bear fruit for years to come. Drawing from her theatrical background, she enriched the co-op with imagination and excellence, always seeking to elevate what was good, true, and beautiful.

Whether through her work, her hospitality, or the nourishment she lovingly provided from her family farm, KC had a singular desire: to feed both body and soul with truth and goodness. She lived with intention, giving freely of her time and talents, always oriented toward Heaven and grounded in truth and beauty. A devoted witness to her faith and to the dignity of life, she generously shared her knowledge, especially in guiding others through Natural Family Planning, helping many to live more faithfully and fully. Her life was a testament to what it means to love deeply, to serve selflessly, and to walk closely with Christ. There was a light within her that could not be hidden. It shone in her joy, her warmth, and her unwavering love and encouragement of others. To encounter KC was to be uplifted. She was a cheerleader for life! She loved generously, and she inspired others to do the same.

KC Schnitker was a light of Christ. “You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden.” Matthew 5:14, “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.” Matthew 5:16, “For once you were darkness, but now you are light in the Lord; walk as children of light.” Ephesians 5:8

She will be profoundly missed. In honor of all she gave, let us now gather around the Schnitker family with that same spirit of love and generosity, lifting them in prayer, in presence, and in support during this most difficult time. Funds will go to support funeral costs, the children and maintaining the farm.
