Hello everyone!

As most of you know, or have become aware, Justin and Krystal have been going through some of the toughest of times. I am going to provide a series of events to understand why this GoFundMe was created for these two incredibly humble individuals.

Most recently, Justin was brought to the Ottawa hospital due to some immobility and back pain where it was discovered/confirmed he had 3 large tumours and many small tumours along the spine.
Justin did undergo spinal surgery on February 22, in which they were able to remove portions of the large tumours, however due to location/severity they are not able to fully be removed.

Post op they knew Justin would face some challenges with recovery, but they also had to wait for pathology to confirm the type of tumours they were dealing with.

And another blow was delivered - a newer type of high grade cancer - MCYN Amplified Ependymoma was confirmed.

Justin now not only has to recover from the damage pre op (paralysis from chest down) and spinal surgery, but will also be undergoing radiation.

MORE BACK STORY:
Krystal and Justin recently welcomed their son, Brady, in August 2020 and without getting too much into it - it was a traumatic experience to say the least.
Brady did suffer from a TBI (traumatic brain injury), amongst other things but most recently was diagnosed with Fragile X disorder.
Brady has been undergoing physiotherapy, occupational therapy (OT), as well as speech therapy, which was all out of pocket until recently. OHIP has started covering his physio therapy and OT, but speech therapy is $145/hour out of pocket.

The reason why I mention this is because Krystal was on maternity leave until January 2022 - literally 4 weeks before Justin’s diagnosis. Krystal had also reduced to part-time hours upon return from her maternity leave, so she does not qualify for EI at this time.
Krystal needs to be able to focus on her husband and son, as well as her own mental health during this time.
The last thing she should be worrying about is how they are going to make ends meet.

These two individuals have been nothing but light and love through everything they have endured. I know they are modest and are not looking for any form of hand out (they are aware of this, as I did talk it over with them), but given everything they have been through over the last 1.5 years and will have to overcome going forward a GFM is appropriate at this time.

They are not sure when Justin will be able to go home or what that looks like. As of right now, Justin is still in a wheelchair and working on regaining his strength.

Thank you for your time, love, support, prayers, shares and everything else you are all doing.
I am so grateful to know they have people like you all in their life.

I will provide updates here as they come in.

Sending love to all ❤️
