Support for the Ryan family in memory of Westley

On April 21, 2021, 3 year old Westley Ryan passed away from medical complications just a month before the Ryan family had a 3 week camping trip planned through the Make-A-Wish Foundation. They were heading to several National Parks this summer to make great family memories with Westley. It was a trip the whole family desperately needed to bond with their little brother, who had multiple medical issues. Very sadly, Westley passed away 1.5 months before the trip, so they lost their Make-A-Wish funding. We are raising money so the Ryan family can still take the trip to celebrate Westley’s life and spend time together to heal from their loss.

Westley was born with Down Syndrome and a  heart condition that required open heart surgery. He also developed short gut syndrome when he was 4 months old. He was the true definition of a fighter. Despite many surgeries, multiple medications and spending 15 months in the hospital, Westley brought joy to so many with his engaging smile, spiky hair and perseverance. Westley’s amazing family was his biggest advocate throughout his medical journey.

His parents, Erica & Shaun, have used their experience and research on how to help Westley in a positive way to support other families, who are also going through medical difficulties with their children. Erica and Shaun would never ask for anything for themselves, so we are asking for donations on their behalf. This trip was meant to be the highlight of their time with sweet Westley, so we are asking for help to make this trip a reality, in order to provide a time for family bonding and healing through their grief.
