Hi world. Our Christmas Eve this year looked very different. At about 10:50am, a tree branch longer than 30 feet hit and killed my father-in-law in San Diego. He was walking next to his house on his way to get in his car when the tragedy occurred. Our entire family is devastated, and the holidays won’t ever be the same without him. He definitely knew how to brighten the day with jokes and humor. We had gifts under the tree he won’t ever get to open. Roberto Ruiz was a loving father, husband, grandfather, and a hardworking welder among many other things. He served the San Diego community for 20+ years. He was a protector, a pillar, and a provider. His granddaughter, who lived with him and is only 5 years old, is distraught as she witnessed the entire tragedy. The tree snapped twice, the second time damaging part of the front of the home. I understand that right now times are difficult, and many of us feel really overwhelmed with the holidays. So I truly appreciate any and every soul who blesses us during these extremely challenging times, even if it’s only with a prayer.

Nuestra Nochebuena este año fue muy diferente.

Alrededor de las 10:50 a.m., una rama de árbol de más de 30 pies de largo cayó y le quitó la vida trágicamente a mi suegro en San Diego. Él caminaba junto a su casa, rumbo a su automóvil, cuando ocurrió la tragedia.

Toda nuestra familia está devastada, y las fiestas nunca volverán a ser las mismas sin él. Roberto tenía una manera especial de alegrar cualquier día con sus bromas y su sentido del humor. Hay regalos bajo el árbol que nunca podrá abrir, y ese dolor es algo que aún estamos tratando de comprender.

Roberto Ruiz fue un padre, esposo y abuelo amoroso, además de un trabajador incansable como soldador, entre muchas otras cualidades. Sirvió con orgullo a la comunidad de San Diego por más de 20 años. Fue un protector, un pilar y un proveedor para su familia.

Su nieta, quien vivía con él y solo tiene 5 años, está profundamente afectada, ya que presenció toda la tragedia. El árbol se partió dos veces, y el segundo impacto dañó parte del frente de la vivienda.

Entendemos que estos son tiempos difíciles, especialmente durante las fiestas, y que muchos se sienten abrumados. Agradecemos sinceramente a cada alma que nos bendice en estos momentos tan difíciles, incluso si es solo con una oración.
