Support for the Ron Scanlan Family

As friends of Ron and Mary Scanlan we have had many people asking how they can help after Ron’s tragic accident. We have decided to set up this page to provide financial support for Ron’s long journey ahead.

 

For those who don’t know, on Oct. 29th, a chair that Ron was sitting on collapsed causing him to fall and fracture his spine. Ron was emergently flown to Marshfield Medical Center and underwent an MRI that showed permanent damage to his spinal cord.

 

Ron and his family received the devastating news that he will likely be paralyzed from the chest down leaving him unable to move his arms or legs for the rest of his life. Ron is currently hospitalized and will require a long stay at an out of state rehabilitation facility, yet to be determined, once he is cleared to transfer. Mary has been staying at a hotel in Marshfield to support Ron through his recovery and will travel with him to his rehab facility in the coming weeks or months.

 

This tragic event has changed life forever for the Scanlan family. The hope is for Ron to be able to return home eventually but this will require many adaptations to their family home. Accessible entries, bedrooms, bathrooms, etc will need to be built for this dream to become a reality. Funds raised through this page will assist the family with lodging, meals, medical bills, and remodeling the Scanlan home.

 

The outpouring of love and concern for Ron is a testament to the amazing person Ron is. He would be the first person to give the shirt off of his back to help anyone who is in need. Now, it’s our turn to help Ron.
