Support for the Romero-Mont-Eton family

Dear friends, family, and community of the Romero-Mont-Eton family:

Many of you know how kind, loving, and generous this family is and how much they give back to their community, please offer your support to them now to help get them through a very challenging urgent medical situation.

The week before last, Jessica and Boni’s eldest son, Arlo, fell suddenly and severely ill from an unidentified virus. He was hospitalized locally, but as his condition deteriorated, on Thursday Arlo was admitted to the PICU at OHSU with septic shock. The medical team tried to locate the source of the infection and he was sent for emergency surgery to remove his appendix. Unfortunately that was not the source of the infection and after many grueling tests and procedures they are still seeking a diagnosis for Arlo's condition and symptoms.

What started as a regular-seeming illness has turned into a nightmare for this incredible family, and what they had hoped would be a short hospital stay is looking like it will turn into weeks as they continue to receive necessary medical care and Arlo’s medical team works diligently to diagnose him. This unexpected medical crisis has separated them from their youngest son, Tiago, who is staying with Boni's family in Hood River while Jessica and Boni remain at OHSU in Portland with little Arlo.

As a community, we can't take away the stress and pain of this ongoing crisis, but we absolutely can alleviate some of the financial burden of lost wages, medical bills, long commutes from Hood River to Portland, and the additional costs of food and lodging while they remain in Portland with their son.
