Support for the Riaz Family

Donation protected
Early Monday morning (12/14/20), Riazuddin Sayed unexpectedly passed away from complications with COVID-19. Riaz was a devoted, loving father, husband, brother, and friend. This fundraiser is to offset some of the medical and living expenses that fall on Riazuddin’s family. After contracting COVID-19 at his job earlier this week, Riaz quarantined at home, with only a fever. He began to have difficulty breathing on Sunday afternoon and was taken to the hospital, where he tragically died of COVID-19 the next morning. His family is heartbroken, as his death came so suddenly, and his family was not able to be by his side. His daughter Hira recalls joking around with him in the car on the way to the hospital, assuming she’d be seeing him healthy again soon.

He leaves behind his wife Nasima, Mother in Law Saeeda, and his three children Ahmed, Hira, and Rija, who are living together in their family home in Tracy. In addition to the terrible sudden loss, the family is also facing a financial burden. Riaz was the sole provider for his wife Nasima, and her mother. Nasima is currently unable to work as earlier this year she battled and successfully beat breast cancer. Hira and Ahmed, both in their mid-20s, have established themselves in their careers, and youngest daughter, Rija, is completing her Bachelor's Degree at UCSC, where she will graduate with a degree in Computer Science and Technology and Information Systems in 2021.

A donation of any amount will help supplement living expenses and assist with medical and funerary expenses. We are very appreciative and grateful for any support you may be able to provide.

Thank you, Anna Soetaert (Friend of Hira)

For those who didn’t know Riaz, he was extremely kind, hardworking, and in the words of his daughter Hira, “loved his family and friends to the fullest.” He had a passion for life, which included deep sea diving, bike racing, and playing soccer in his younger years in Pakistan. He always made time for the ones he loved and made sure to consistently check in on everyone around him, without fail. He was the most humble, warm-hearted, loving, supportive, and generous human being.  He was close with his family, enjoyed walking with his two German Shepherd dogs Bella and Beau, was a talented painter, and loved gardening. Riaz had the purest heart and intentions and was a selfless human being who always put the needs of others before his own. His unconditional love and constant optimistic view on life was a beacon of light to his family and those who had the pleasure of knowing him.

We know it's a difficult time for everyone in this pandemic. Giving even just a prayer or well wishes for him, would mean so much.
