On August 20th, 2021, my dad who works as an Uber driver in Downtown Chicago parked on the side of the street with the windows down just before 1 A.M. when a group of teenagers came up and terrorized him. They hit him and blew several punches to his face, dragged him out of the car and continued beating him on the street. They stole his car, including all of his belongings that include his cellphone, wallet, cash and other valuable items.

While the police eventually found the deserted car, the perpetrators had crashed and dismantled it on the side of the road, and we ended up having to total the car.

Uber was my family’s main source of income, and they are unfortunately offering no compensation, including any rental car fees that we need to pay out of pocket. They also only allow a 1-month limit on rental cars to be used at a time for driving purposes, and so my family will eventually have to look to buy another car.

The funds received will be used for my dad’s car related expenses and medical bills. He will need several check ups including an X-ray and MRI scan to see if he needs to go through with potential surgical procedures.

While my family has only requested love and prayer, I’m really hoping to help ease their financial burden and help them in any way I can from across the country.
