On Thursday 28 November we lost someone very close to our hearts. Sam Onyechi had an amazing impact on the people he met in his life and by the young age of 34 he had built a lasting, positive legacy through his work and in our hearts and minds.
Sam was an incredibly warm and talented man who welcomed people into his life. His ability to be proactive when he had an idea, along with his naturally non-judgemental view, meant he instigated a huge amount of activity that people wanted to be involved in - and he welcomed everyone in to do so. People who met Sam found him to be instantly likeable. People gravitated to him and wanted to associate with him.
However, despite this warmth, Sam spent many years struggling with a darkness: a depression he wasn’t able to shift, no matter how much he was surrounded by those who loved him dearly. Along with his diagnosis for Chronic Myeloid Leukaemia (CML), Sam sadly found it difficult in recent years to maintain his creativity and motivation.
As Sam has brought so many people together during his lifetime, we now want to honour his memory and replicate some of his amazing force for good so we have created this crowd funding page to raise money and bring even more value to Sam’s life and legacy.
All proceeds from this fundraising will go towards funeral costs for Sam. Anything remaining will form the beginnings of a trust fund for his young son.
Sam was a genuine, honest, loveable man who was always more than willing to give help, advice, time and money to his friends in need. Unfortunately he always put himself at the bottom of the pile when it came to the phenomenal amount compassion he had for others…
We love and miss you dearly Sam Onyechi. We have all been touched by knowing you and our lives will be dimmer for losing you xxx
All the proceeds raised will go to Trudie and Uche Onyechi.
